Validus Re is among the world\xe2\x80\x99s largest and most successful reinsurers specializing in the assumption and management of volatility risk. Validus Re operates from seven offices internationally and provides a broad suite of reinsurance products and services, backed by highly rated capital and specialized local knowledge, in virtually every corner of the world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
Pricing

• Perform actuarial pricing analysis of individual programs across several lines of business (including but not limited to Property, Specialty and Marine/Energy)
• Assist in the development of new pricing models and make improvements to existing ones.
• Build out and maintain databases for various economic/insurance industry factors indices.

Reserving

• Assist reserving actuaries at quarter end with various analysis and reporting requirements as required.

Risk Management

• Assist risk management actuary to run various analyses on Validus in-force portfolio for board reporting, retro purchasing, and other uses
• Portfolio optimization and exposure aggregation work
• Gain familiarity with internal economic capital model and assist in development where possible

Other duties as required

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in mathematics, statistics, or related field
• Progress towards designation from Institute of Actuaries, Casualty Actuarial Society, or similar bodies
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications,
• Familiarity with programming, in VBA/Python/R or similar language.
• Proven organizational and timekeeping skills and a strong sense of attention to detail are essential
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills i.e. a thorough command of the English language including excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation.
• The ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients and colleagues, and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
• Ability to manage and complete multiple projects within tight timeframe
• Ability to work independently with minimum direction
• Strong attention to details
