Overview

Are you a self-driven individual with experience calculating liabilities and assessment rates? We have an opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst to join our actuarial team at our Richmond office.

In this role, youll report to the Associate Actuary or the Actuary, Actuarial Services Department. This role provides a wide range of actuarial/financial analysis and decision support to achieve WorkSafeBCs objectives of sound financial reporting, fairness in the risk classification and assessment of employers, and early identification and communication of emerging claims trends.

Where youll work

WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, youll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

What you\'ll do

• Research, analyze and provide solutions on various actuarial / finance issues
• Develop and maintain current in-depth knowledge of WorkSafe BCs databases and expertise with data query and WorkSafe BCs financial statements
• Assist in calculating the actuarial liabilities
• Assist in calculating the annual assessment rates
• Assist in financial modeling using tools such as database queries, statistical applications, actuarial formulae, etc
• Create formal reports, presentations and submissions summarizing and interpreting analytical results

• Gather information, identify issues, logically analyze problems and generate solutions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with non-actuarial areas of WorkSafe BC

• Willingness to report results in an unbiased manner

Your background and experience

• An undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or any related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and working knowledge in SQL and Microsoft Access
• Basic knowledge of financial statements
• Successful completion of two or more actuarial exams of the Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society
• A minimum of one year of recent directly related work experience
