Job PostingHalifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for one full time permanent position of Utility Operator 1 - Street Sweeper with Infrastructure Maintenance & Operations (IMO) in Public Works. Applicants are encouraged to self-identify on their electronic application.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Safe operation of a Mechanical / Vacuum Street Sweeper;
Load and unload equipment and materials as required;
Maintain and safely operate assigned tools/equipment;
Work safely and cooperatively assisting other classifications;
Contribute to meeting the operational objectives of the business unit and HRM;
Attend work on a regular basis;
Participate in winter works if required;
Must be willing to upgrade training to operate winter works equipment;
Other IMO related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

• Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Must have valid Nova Scotia Driver\'s License Class 3 with air brake endorsement;
• Must have one (1) year of recent related experience operating under a Class 3 license;
• Must successfully complete HRM Mechanical Sweeper training and able to provide current certification;
• Good driving record (Registry of Motor Vehicle abstract may be required before a formal job offer is made).

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:

• Able to work independently, and as a team player;
• Able to follow instructions, and communicate effectively including oral and written communication;
• Must have good attendance and work record;
• Working knowledge of methods, materials and equipment usage involved in IMO;
• WHMIS, CPR/First Aid certification or ability to successfully complete.
• Capable and willing to work inside and outside in varying weather conditions.
• Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.
