Role overview
Responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all site utilities and infrastructure in line with Carlsberg and legal standards. Oversees service levels, performance management, and continuous improvement of utilities KPIs in line with Together Towards Zero Agenda (TTZ) (natural gas, water, electricity, compressed air, glycol and frion cooling, CO?, wastewater). Oversees activities of the utilities support team, site infrastructure, and third-party contracts within approved budgets. Ensures implementation of Carlsberg Operational Manual (COM) standards and contributes to the site's Long-Term Development Plan (LDP). Accountable for OPEX control and active participation in regional and global Utilities best practice initiatives.
What you'll be doing
Ensure full compliance with HSE, food safety, hygiene, and ISO/IMS standards across the Utilities department.
Implement and maintain site Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure appropriate resource alignment.
Manage departmental systems (PMS, reporting, meetings) in line with Carlsberg Group standards.
Standardize utilities processes and verify adherence through training and process confirmations.
Use data-driven methods to address performance gaps and drive continuous improvement.
Maintain and optimize the utilities monitoring and targeting system for accuracy and efficiency.
Support the Head of BD&E on site LDP strategy and identify capital investment needs.
Prioritize utility focus areas and manage OPEX/CAPEX budgets effectively.
Analyse utilities consumption to identify cost-saving and sustainability opportunities.
Share performance insights and collaborate cross-functionally to implement corrective actions.
Deliver utilities KPIs and lead savings and improvement projects.
Promote cross-site best-practice sharing for utilities and facilities performance.
Allocate resources to preventive maintenance and critical site initiatives.
Apply MTBF/MTTR metrics to improve reliability and maintenance efficiency.
Monitor and manage key utilities KPIs (consumption, breakdowns, OEE, maintenance costs).
Ensure compliance with Group COM Utilities standards and support carbon and water reduction projects.
Oversee maintenance and repair of all utility infrastructure and equipment.
Supervise utility contractors, ensuring H&S compliance, service quality, and SLA performance.
Conduct contractor audits, process confirmations, and provide feedback to Procurement and leadership.
Set clear expectations with stakeholders, report performance, and resolve operational issues.
Collaborate with internal and external partners (PKG, B&P, QA, EHS, HR, Procurement, Finance, regional teams, vendors) to meet compliance and performance goals.
What we're looking for
University degree in Utilities, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering
3 years' experience in a production environment driving utility savings.
In-depth knowledge of process function and regulatory requirements related to Utilities in Ontario.
Proven track record in developing assets, managing budgets, and driving performance improvements through Lean TPM methodologies.
Strong focus on driving results, customer/consumer needs, business acumen, and passion with integrity.
Expertise in analytical thinking, cross-team collaboration, communication, developing and empowering people, and managing change effectively.
