JOB RESPONSIBILITIESProvide leadership and direction to a unionized workforce, including powerhouse engineers and brewing team members
Oversee the operation and maintenance of brewery utilities (steam, refrigeration, compressed air, CO?, water, and wastewater systems) to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient performance.
Develop a strong understanding of the brewing process and collaborate with brewing teams to optimize utility support for production needs.
Administer and ensure compliance with the Process Safety Management (PSM) program, including mechanical integrity, management of change (MOC), training, and incident investigation requirements.
Manage the preventative and corrective maintenance plans for the utility and brewing departments to ensure equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and minimal downtime
Monitor plant utilities and brewing KPIs; analyze operational data to identify trends, improve system efficiency, and reduce energy and water consumption.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives across brewing and utility departments, driving cost savings, sustainability, and reliability improvements.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (Work Safe BC, local environmental and safety standards).
Provide technical training, coaching, and development opportunities for unionized staff to build operational excellence.
Act as the primary point of contact for utility- and PSM-related audits, inspections, and external regulatory interactions.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork within the brewing and utilities departments.
JOB QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial) or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
3+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably within brewing, food & beverage, or utilities operations.
Proven experience managing unionized employees, with strong understanding of labor relations and collective bargaining agreements.
Demonstrated knowledge of utilities systems (steam, refrigeration, compressed air, CO?, water, wastewater treatment).
Hands-on familiarity with the brewing process and brewery operations is strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, preferably with direct program management experience.
Experience with maintenance plan management, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
Strong data analysis skills; ability to use metrics and KPIs to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
Proven ability to coach, develop, and engage a diverse workforce in a unionized environment.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, able to work effectively with brewing, engineering, safety, and quality
