Seeking new graduate engineers to support upstream production operations in Eastern Canada. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to support two world-class offshore facilities, Hibernia and Hebron, and will be working alongside some of the most talented Engineers in the industry.

The selected individual will work at our new, open-concept office in St. John's, Newfoundland, a space which is focused on collaboration, efficiency, safety and fun! Our St. John's office boasts a brand new gym facility, free parking, and a large eating area on each floor to socialize with your peers and meet others in the building. The building also has several areas with advanced remote operations capabilities, enabled by an onshore to offshore fiber-optic link. This opens up some truly unique experiences for our employees where they can observe and support real-time production, drilling and logistics operations, seeing the immediate impact they can make from 350km away!

Potential positions could include:

Facilities Engineer

  • Support operations through real-time facilities surveillance and optimization
  • Perform long term facilities/process optimization analysis and monitoring of key variables driving profitability
  • Interact with operations, maintenance and other engineers to collaboratively address key technical and business priorities
  • Computer modeling of oil, gas, and water piping networks and facilities
  • Facilitate scoping, cost estimating, scheduling and execution of facilities projects
  • Implement effective solutions to health, safety, and environmental opportunities using fundamental process safety concepts and risk management principles
  • Participate in hazard and operability studies and other risk analyses
Machinery and Cranes Engineer
  • Provide engineering support to the management of the Machinery, Cranes and Lifting integrity programs, including; technical evaluation, troubleshooting, and issue response / support
  • Manage key integrity program activities including equipment criticality and strategy development, stewarding work plans and budgets, assessment and management of integrity issues, and program KPI status reporting
  • Champion machinery condition monitoring/surveillance and lifting equipment inspection programs to identify deficiencies and/or potential operational issues
  • Provide technical advice on issue remediation, supporting maintenance planning and execution and identifying opportunities for improvement in the areas of reliability, integrity, and production optimization
  • Facilitate the advancement of improvement opportunities from idea generation through to implementation
  • Interact with Operations, Maintenance, other Engineering technical staff, vendors and specialists to collaboratively address key technical and business priorities related to Machinery, Cranes and Lifting
  • Actively participate in risk assessments and incident investigations (e.g. PHA, HAZOP, RCA)
Wells Engineer
  • Real-time monitoring of active drill wells and/or well work operations; including cost/time performance, drilling fluid properties, directional profile progress and torque/drag, technical problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Modelling to better understand well performance, drilling fluid networks and facilities
  • Interface cross-functionally (Geology, Reservoir, Facilities, Production) to develop the most economic options for new well designs and/or performing remedial/diagnostic well work
  • Evaluating drilling alternatives and proposal of recommended practices
  • Implement effective solutions to health, safety, and environmental issues
  • Participate in hazard and operability studies and other risk analyses
Reservoir Engineer
  • Provide reservoir engineering support and guidance for the Hibernia and Hebron reservoir areas as well as assessing the development of future reservoir area
  • Reservoir simulation (including model builds and history matching) and volumes forecasting
  • Support Well performance reviews and Reserves assessments
  • Input to annual Asset Level Business Plan submission Input to Technical Shareholder Committee meetings
  • Depletion Planning and development scenario evaluation
  • Interface cross-functionally (Geology, Drilling, Facilities, Production) including leveraging the full strengths of the ExxonMobil organization to ensure proper upstream alignment and sharing of new technologies
Oil & Gas Engineer
  • Support related operations and identify optimization opportunities through monitoring of key variables driving profitability
  • Facilitate scoping, cost estimating, scheduling and execution of facilities projects
  • Identify reliability and integrity threats and improvement opportunities, articulate technical/business challenges, and provide technical solutions
  • Interface cross-functionally, leveraging the full strengths of the ExxonMobil organization to ensure proper upstream alignment and sharing of new technologies
  • Implement effective solutions to health, safety, and environmental opportunities using fundamental process safety concepts and risk management principles
  • Participate in hazard and operability studies and other risk analyses
Qualifications

Academic:
  • Recent graduate with a BSc or MSc in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Process or another accredited engineering discipline in Canada, recent defined as within the past 3 years (Spring 2023 graduates encouraged to apply)
Other:
  • Strong analytical and organization skills
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to interface cross-functionally within the organization and with internal and external stakeholders and regulators
  • Strong commitment to safety both on and off the job
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work with a minimal supervision and in a team-based environment
  • Previous petroleum industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential
  • Strong leadership qualities consistent with the ExxonMobil Leadership Framework
  • Initiative, independence and accountability for tasks and understanding impacts on the business
