Position Details

Reporting to the Manager, Claims Auto PD, the Unit Manager will oversee a team of adjusters on both personal and commercial policies.
What You Will Do
Lead, manage and develop claim associates to maximize full performance potential
Provide coaching on claims technical skills and strategic direction on claims handling
Ensure adherence to corporate reserving practices
Ensure equitable distribution of claims within the team
Conducts regular feedback discussions with associates regarding training needs, development plans, execution of plans, and performance results
Encourages continuous learning within the team
Creates and delivers performance reviews along with action plans to manage performance
Delivers exceptional customer service, internally and externally
Who You Are
Post-secondary education, or equivalent industry experience
A minimum of 5-7 years of claims handling experience; handling complex files
A minimum of 1 year of leadership experience
Relevant and progressive claims experience, inclusive of technical and coverage issues, management / resolution.
Relevant and progressively more responsible claims experience, inclusive of technical and coverage issues, management / resolution.
Working knowledge of the OAP 1 and Insurance Act and other legislation governing property and casualty insurance claims.
Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations and coverage issues
Progressive experience in training / mentoring / coaching using a variety of approaches
