AHS has an exciting opportunity for a Rural Acute Care Manager at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre, with responsibility for leadership and management of the teams providing care in the emergency department, and outpatient department. In this position you will support a dynamic healthcare team, and a diverse patient population living and working in a rural community. Your role includes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment. Description:
The Rural Acute Manager is responsible to provide staff and program leadership, in addition, support and manage clinical operations in the outpatient clinic and the Emergency Department at Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre. This position will have the opportunity to inform and support the implementation of local, zonal, and/or provincial initiatives. Key areas of responsibility include ensuring the effective deployment of human resources (scheduling, rotations, skill mix, recruitment) and creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace where staff feel engaged, supported, and valued, and can do their best work every day. This could include but is not limited to supporting just in time learning, coaching, mentoring, orientation, and ongoing staff training and development. Additionally, the manager will ensure the appropriate allocation of fiscal and capital resources across the area of accountability and understand and report on the operating budget in accordance with established AHS policies and practices. It is expected the manager will foster a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure the ongoing delivery of safe, high-quality, consistent patient and family centred care.
