Under the guidance and supervision of the Patient Care Manager, Surgical Programming and Planning - the Unit Manager, Surgical Planning - is responsible to provide support and coverage for teams on the Surgical Programming and Planning portfolio. Teams include Facilitated Access to Specialized Treatment (FAST) team, RAH Surgical Booking Office, ACATs, Anesthesia RTs, Acute Pain Service, Anesthesia Care Team and the Centre for Advancement of Surgical Education and Simulation (CASES).

Description:

Under the guidance and supervision of the Patient Care Manager, Surgical Programming and Planning - the Unit Manager, Surgical Planning - is responsible to provide support and coverage for teams on the Surgical Programming and Planning management team as required. Teams include: Facilitated Access to Specialized Treatment (FAST) team, RAH Surgical Booking Office, ACATs, Anesthesia RTs, Acute Pain Service, Anesthesia Care Team and Centre for Advancement of Surgical Education and Simulation (CASES). The Unit Manager promotes quality patient care through the effective management of human, material and financial resources including staff support and issues resolution as it pertains to his/her scope of responsibility. The Unit Manager is an important member of the Operative Services Leadership Team and contributes to the development of both site and zone clinical teams. This position is responsible and accountable for making front line unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of the Surgical Planning team. The Unit Manager is responsible for developing effective partnerships and relationships and leading the implementation and change of quality and safety projects and initiatives as well as promoting harmonious and effective interdepartmental communication and relationships to ensure the provision of safe, quality patient access and care.

Required Qualifications:

University Degree, with health care background. 3 years related management or leadership experience in a health care environment. Strong organizational and leadership skills including demonstrated ability to conform with decision-making, coaching and teach and ability to build confidence in others.
Additional Required Qualifications:

The ability to integrate and apply clinical excellence in the day-to-day operations of the operative services program. Ability to function effectively within a dynamic work environment. Ability to assess the effectiveness of programs and activities on the basis of quantifiable outcomes. Ability to maintain confidentiality; evidence of initiative, flexibility, commitment to fostering professional growth and effectiveness of personnel. Current and maintained registration with health-related discipline with no restrictions (example - CRNA, CARTA, CLPNA, etc.). Management/ Supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree, with a health or business background, Evidence of excellent leadership, interpersonal and communications skills, including management of human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Knowledge and ability to work with operational and financial systems required (Connect Care, e-People, RMS, Outlook, MR, Oracle). Conflict management experience.
