Your Opportunity:
The FMC OR is the Adult Quaternary Level 1 Trauma Centre serving Southern Alberta and surrounding areas. Our OR includes 32 operating rooms and surgeries are performed 365 days per year. Our multidisciplinary team includes Surgeons, Anesthesia, Perioperative RNs, ORTs, RN First Assists, and support staff. We proudly provide surgical interventions for over 22,000 patients yearly with the highest standard of care. FMC OR partners with the U of C to provide a teaching environment for medical and nursing students. We are proud to be the Calgary Zone Centre of Excellence for Trauma, Cardiac Open Heart, Neurological, Thoracic, Spine and Organ Transplant surgeries. We are a world leader in the development of the MRI Operative Suite and Interventional Hybrid Trauma and Cardiac Operating rooms. Other surgical specialties include Ortho/Arthroplasty, Gen Surgery, Pacemakers, Vascular Access, ENT, Plastics, and Gynecology. FMC cares for oncology patients spanning all services. Under general supervision of the Patient Care Manager and/or Unit Manager and the Task Force/Charge nurse, this position is primarily responsible for managing information, reception duties, clerical support, coordination of activities and general communication flows within and outside the Operating Room and emergent/urgent booking of procedures.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
