Special Risk Insurance Managers Ltd. is currently seeking enthusiastic, driven individuals to join our multitalented Renewal Team as an Underwriting Assistant/Renewal Underwriter.
This position assists in the maintenance of policy renewals in collaboration with Underwriters and presents opportunities to grow within our company.
It is suitable for a candidate with prior industry experience, looking for the opportunity to work in commercial lines and learn from our established team of experts.
Due to the ongoing circumstances with the Covid-19 pandemic, you must have the ability to work from home for the foreseeable future, with the eventual expansion to a hybrid work from home/ office model.
As an Underwriting Assistant/Renewal Underwriter you will

  • Work collaboratively within a dynamic team structure alongside other Underwriting Assistants and Renewal Underwriters
  • Manage renewal business by reviewing risks and negotiating with brokers with the guidance and mentorship of underwriters
  • Reexamine exposures at renewal and work with underwriters to problem solve on challenges
  • Use company rating strategy to retain existing business, and contribute to team goals
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assessing and quoting endorsement & cancellation requests with accuracy
  • Provide communication to the Policy Production team
  • Maintain account files and renewal records
  • Contribute to the development and strength of relationships with retail brokers

  • Level 1 General Insurance license (or the ability to obtain within a certain time frame)
  • 1+ year(s) Insurance industry experience
