Underwriting Assistant The Underwriting Assistant is responsible for providing technical and administrative support to assigned underwriting files in accordance with established guidelines and business objectives in the achievement of professional standards for data quality and service levels. You will perform underwriting support activities associated with information gathering and rating for new business, renewals, and midterm changes. You will also prepare electronic files on behalf of the Underwriter regarding basic deal structuring, risk analysis and quoting related to underwriting transactions (renewals, non-premium bearing midterm changes, etc.). Responsibilities: Specific job duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Issue policy documentation. Review policy for accuracy and send to broker in accordance with negotiated terms;
  • Assist and support Underwriters with day to day tasks including pre-underwriting, evaluating risk, corresponding with brokers and assessing completeness and accuracy of underwriting packages prior to underwriter review;
  • Overall administration of assigned accounts from submission to expiration;
  • Create and maintain electronic files, correspondence, and records in IT/client management system;
  • Keep current on trends / events within the healthcare industry;
  • Invoice brokers and follow-up on outstanding receivables;
  • Translate documents and communications necessary and collaborate with other team members.
  • General administrative duties and other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience:
  • Fluent in French and English, both verbal and written (Must have)
  • Minimum 2 years or more of data processing
  • General Knowledge of all areas of general insurance coverage
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer skills required in MS Word, Excel
  • Accounting or financial reconciliation experience
Education:
  • A university degree is preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Insurance designation preferred
