The Underwriting Assistant constitutes an integral part of the Financial & Professional Lines team and is tasked with supporting the underwriting team in key administrative tasks.

The primary responsibility of an Underwriter is to solicit and review accounts, and if within Starr\xe2\x80\x99s appetite, propose, negotiate the underlying insurance contract. Throughout the life cycle an account, there are numerous administrative tasks that must be performed effectively in order to ensure an orderly, efficient, and compliant underwriting process. These administrative tasks are the responsibility of the Underwriting Assistant (UA) and performed with the objective of supporting the Underwriter in his or her role.

The ideal candidate for the UA role will be someone that thrives in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to support multiple underwriters while maintaining the highest degree of attention to detail. We are seeking a motivated candidate who wants to grow into a future Underwriting role.

Seeking candidates entry level (recent graduates) to 4 years of experience.

Duties and Responsibilities: Including, but not limited to,

Pre-bind:

Setting up the renewal or new business account file

Ensuring that submissions are accurately logged into the CRM system.

Prepping the rater, and in the case of a renewal, the renewal proposal.

Post-bind:

Releasing to brokers the final agreed upon terms and conditions.

Soliciting and keeping track of the receipt of subjectivity materials.

Policy construction, review and issuance

Underwriting file documentation

Audit preparation

Periodic issuance & audit report preparation and communication to management.

Transactions:

Processing extensions, cancellations and run-off transactions.

Processing the invoicing for accounts and addressing none or late payment issues.

Skills/Characteristics:

Detail oriented; with the ability to effectively and efficiently review and proof contracts.

Desire to perform in a support role.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflows efficiently.

Ability to perform defined tasks effectively without significant oversight.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Professional demeanor in verbal and written communications

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and similar applications
