Underwriter, Professional Solutions \xe2\x80\x93 Halifax

We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our dynamic, forward-thinking team of Specialty Insurance underwriters in our Halifax office.

The successful applicant will be passionate and results oriented with the capability to build upon and foster relationships with new and existing broker clients. Specifically, the successful applicant will be responsible for both marketing and underwriting our suite of Specialty Insurance Solutions including Directors\xe2\x80\x99 and Officers\xe2\x80\x99 Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fidelity, Fiduciary Liability, and Business office package policies.

Accountabilities:

• Supporting our Specialty Insurance Solutions team across Canada for the first year, transitioning to a full time resource for the Specialty Insurance team in Halifax supporting our brokers in Atlantic Canada.
• Marketing and sourcing new business opportunities
• Managing and building a portfolio of Specialty Insurance accounts specifically in D&O and Fidelity
• Establishing and maintaining broker relationship
• Evaluating exposures and determining appropriate terms and conditions of coverage
• Learning new product lines and coverages as they are developed
• Maintaining a thorough understanding of relevant industry trends and their impact on products offered

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree or post-secondary education in business, marketing, sales, or insurance preferred
• Minimum 1-2+ years of progressive finance or underwriting experience
• Bilingual in French and English an asset
