About the role

We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for an Underwriter to join our growing Commercial Surety team!

As an Underwriter, your work will have a big impact on our growing Commercial Surety business. People will count on you to provide effective solutions for critical bonding solutions.

This position is a full-time permanent opportunity based in our Edmonton, AB or Vancouver, BC office.

Here are a few ways you\'ll make a difference:

• Manage a diverse portfolio of complex commercial surety accounts
• Analyse and secure underwriting data and apply critical thinking on underwriting decisions and client relationship issues
• Build partnerships with brokers and clients, delivering surety solutions at the account level in a professional and responsive manner
• Develop broker relationships and marketing strategies to further new business development opportunities
• Prioritize workflow to maximize productivity and meet deadlines
• Maintain a strong knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and current challenges and opportunities

What we are looking for:

• Post Secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics
• Two years of surety underwriting, commercial banking experience or financial analysis
• Solid understanding of real estate developer processes, bond wordings/obligations, credit and commercial lending, and corporate financial statements
• Strong business development skills to negotiate with brokers effectively
