About the role We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for an Underwriter I, Commercial Lines, to join our growing team!

What you\'ll do here:

• Participate to support broker relationship development.
• Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company.
• Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency.
• Work closely and support Intermediate and Senior Underwriters on accounts with lead and non lead subscription, reinsurance and multi-locations schedules
• Underwriter mid term changes, renewals and new business submissions within authority
• Analyze requests for quotes and recommend innovative solutions
• Focus on building relationships while underwriting and rating policies
• Provides technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members
• Assess, evaluate and negotiate on moderate to complex risks.

What you bring to the table:

• Very strong sales and customer service skills
• Completion of or progress toward a CIP designation is an asset
• Maintain an expert and current understanding of all relevant Commercial Underwriting Guides and instructions related thereto
• Awareness of local community conditions and insurance issues
• Initiative and ability to work under pressure
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry related to computer systems and communication skills
