About the role




We’re looking for an Underwriter Level I, Facility to join our growing team! As a Commercial Lines Underwriter Level I, your work will have a big impact on our Facility Department. You will process and underwrite moderately complex files involving facility commercial lines and personal lines automobile policies. Develop business opportunities through building and maintaining strong internal/external business partner relationships. Act as a technical resource of underwriting knowledge for both colleagues and internal/external business partners. Here are a few ways you'll make a difference:

  • Communicate decisions to brokers in a timely and effective manner.
  • Respond to broker inquiries and make recommendations through verbal and written communication.
  • Rate Commercial Lines facility auto risks using prescribed rates and premiums and complete transactions to support production standards.
  • Review and underwrite Commercial Lines auto new business, endorsements and cancellations, taking appropriate actions to ensure compliance with rules and regulations. Refer complex policies to the Senior Underwriter.
  • Perform other duties as required.





Qualifications




  • University Degree, College Diploma or equivalent Degree is preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of working experience in the PC insurance industry.
  • Automobile underwriting technical knowledge is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or in progress.
  • Team spirt and strong organization skills.
  • Strong analytical and customer service skills.
  • Self-driven individual and ability to work under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
