The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) critical care program consists of the General Systems Intensive Care Unit (GSICU) and the Edmonton Firefighters\' Burn Treatment Unit. The GSICU is a Level 1 Trauma Centre ICU and provincial transplant center for northern and central Alberta, northern BC and Saskatchewan, and northern Territories. As an Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) who is part of the interdisciplinary care team, you will assist in providing evidence-based care to patients with critical illness or trauma, often with multisystem involvement. As a UNE working within the interdisciplinary critical care team, you will work collaboratively with the team to provide positive patient outcomes and excellence in patient and family centered care while adhering to hospital policy and standards of care. The UNE will be expected to be available and work full-time hours May through August.

An Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides an opportunity for a UNE to develop further competency in the range and complexity of Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) practice. The nursing activities performed and level of supervision required is determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by professional associations, AHS and competency of the UNE. You will be guided by your education, experience and demonstrated skill level to play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
