The Department of Statistical Sciences is one of the top ten statistics departments in North America, with our faculty developing numerous important innovations in statistical science. Our mission is to serve as a centre of excellence for statistical and actuarial research and education, across the campus, nationally and internationally. Research is centered on excellence in theory and methods, as many faculty members in the department have very successful collaborative research programs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining information on digital platforms, including learning management systems. Respondingto and resolving service complaints with digital platforms. Researching and recommending educational technologies and best practices related to teaching and learning. Probing for information from end-users to identify problems and establish needs. Providing technical support for unexpected problems in locally maintained learning management applications. Training staff and faculty on the use of digital technologies.
  • Verifying the integrity of records by reaching and monitoring online platforms for violations for the Code of Behaviour.
  • Coordinating program schedules with stakeholders. Organizing, summarizing and circulating program and/or course evaluations. Collecting and submitting grades. Collecting and tracking student assignment submissions. Verifying the accuracy and completeness of information, and disseminating program and/or service information.
  • Developing content for instructional workshops. Proofreading and fact-checking content. Editing program and service materials. Edit content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks.
  • Analyzing service delivery and/or internal processes and recommending improvements.
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items. Scheduling committee meetings and taking and distributing meeting minutes.
  • Maintaining information in databases and generating reports. Collating and organizing data for various reports.
  • Advising students on program and/or courserequirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences. Providing detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policies and deadlines. Troubleshooting routine registration issues. Verifying that students have access to courses in student information systems.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of recent and related experience in undergraduate instructional coordination with learning management systems and other related digital platforms and providing administrative and student support to a large undergraduate office. Extensive knowledge of the University with emphasis on the Faculty of Arts and Science undergraduate academic guidelines and procedures or other related procedures.
  • Experience with maintaining, responding to and resolving service complaints with digital platforms, including learning management systems. Experience working with Quercus and other related learning management systems that supports the administration of an undergraduate program. Experience training staff and faculty on the use of digital technologies.
  • Experience with advising students on program and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences. Experience with providing detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policiesand deadlines.
  • Experience with providing administrative support in an undergraduate office, for example, coordinating program schedules with stakeholders; organizing, summarizing and circulating program and/or course evaluations; coordinating the exam process; collecting and submitting grades; setting up course sites on Quercus; collecting and tracking student assignment submissions; tracking student enrollment; verifying the accuracy and completeness of information; disseminating program and/or service information and analyzing service delivery and/or internal processes and recommending improvements.
  • Experience with developing content for instructional workshops; experience with proofreading and fact-checking content; experience with editing program and service materials and editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks.
  • Experience with verifying the integrity of records by reaching and monitoring online platforms for violations for the Code of Behaviour.
  • Experience in coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items. Scheduling committee meetings and taking and distributing meeting minutes.
  • Experience with maintaining information in databases and generating reports.
  • Experience with organizing the logistical details and activities for events and/or programming.
  • Strong working skills in Microsoft office including Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook and Word. Strong working skills working with Quercus and other related learning management systems. Experience working and maintaining websites.
  • Strong working skills working with ROSI/Acorn and Degree Explorer and/or other related student database systems. Strong working knowledge of maintaining databases and preparing data reports.
