For more information visit: https://www.ualberta.ca/artsPositionThe Undergraduate Advisor provides support in 3 main areas \xe2\x80\x93 Program Advising, Program Administration, and the Academic Timetable.Duties

  • Advises instructors, staff, and faculty members on undergraduate related issues, including grading and academic dishonesty.
  • Processes student academic record changes (eg. registration, grade changes, independent studies, etc).
  • Identifies and refers students at risk. Coaches students to identify problems and possible strategies/resources. Refers students to other campus resources.
  • Communicates regularly with students to keep them informed of department and campus activities and updates.
  • Process undergraduate awards in collaboration with the Registrar\xe2\x80\x99s Office and department committees, as applicable.
  • Participates in events such as recruitment, orientation, and convocation.
  • Advises students and applicants of their rights and process under the Code of Student (or Applicant) Behavior, referring all affected students to the Ombudservice.
  • With support from leadership, develop the academic timetable, and work with the Office of Education to input all scheduling data into PeopleSoft.
  • Identify areas for improvement in scheduling practices to ensure responsible course planning.
  • Support the curriculum review and planning process, including Calendar Change forms. Ensure Calendar is accurate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of two years related experience, particularly in a post-secondary environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated inter-cultural understanding are required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University of Alberta policies and procedures is an asset
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Google Suite, and Microsoft applications are an asset
