The Department of Radiology is seeking a motivated and organized Undergraduate Assistant to support educational, research, and administrative activities from February for one year. The position is part-time and based in Vancouver, British Columbia, with a combination of in-person and online responsibilities. Regular visits to the UBC campus are required. Weekly hours may fluctuate throughout the year, with both slower and busier periods.
The Undergraduate Assistant will report to the Manager, Program Operations and Conferences and will work in close collaboration with the RADS301 Team, faculty and Senior Program Assistant.
Key Responsibilities
Support radiology education activities, including lectures, conferences, workshops, and student engagement initiatives
Assist with course and program logistics, including preparation of teaching materials, session coordination, curriculum development and advertising initiatives; keeps lecturers well informed of schedules and schedule changes
Provide administrative support for departmental projects, meetings, and events
Act as a point of contact between students and the teaching or research team, helping triage questions and facilitate communication
Support student learning and development, including organization, communication, teamwork, and professionalism
Assist with data organization, documentation, and basic project coordination as needed
Assist in the preparation of payments for lecturers and students
Keep handbook up-to-date
Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and departmental standards at all times
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia during the appointment period
Must disclose any other employment or academic commitments that may conflict with this role prior to accepting the position
Legally eligible to work in Canada for the full duration of the appointment
Must reside in British Columbia for the duration of the appointment
Able to attend mandatory training and onboarding, including completion of all Workday requirements
Must be available to assist in person during the lecture times (Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience supporting academic courses, research projects, or departmental initiatives
Previous completion of RADS 301 or demonstrated familiarity with the course content and learning objectives
Comfortable using online and digital platforms, including Canvas, Zoom, and Microsoft Office tools
Able to maintain professional conduct while representing the Department of Radiology
Available to support scheduled activities in person, as required by the department
Previous experience advertising a course at the campus and via social media
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Interest in medical imaging, health sciences, or academic medicine
Fast-paced environment with pro-active approach and planning required
