We are seeking a

Tunnel Surveyor

to join our growing team for a major upcoming tunneling project involving multiple shafts, surface works, and underground tunnel excavation. Reporting directly to the Survey Manager, the successful candidate will play a critical role in all survey-related aspects of the project, ensuring accuracy, quality, and safety from initial layout to final as-built deliverables.

Key Responsibilities



Establish, verify, and maintain accurate surface and underground horizontal and vertical control networks. Perform layout for shafts, manholes, tunnel alignments, and associated structures. Operate and manage TBM guidance and monitoring systems, including setup, monitoring, and adjustments. Conduct as-built surveys for surface features, underground structures, tunnel convergence, and alignment verification. Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) checks, calculations, and prepare survey documentation in accordance with project and company standards. Review and interpret project drawings and specifications to extract required survey data for execution. Support project teams with material quantity takeoffs, progress measurements, and reporting. Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and construction crews to coordinate survey work efficiently and safely. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations at all times.

Qualifications



Diploma, degree, or certificate in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil/Mining/Construction Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 2 years of relevant survey experience in tunneling, shaft construction, or heavy civil infrastructure. Proficiency in survey theory and practice, with hands-on experience using Leica Total Stations and GPS units. Familiarity with tunnel guidance and monitoring systems is an asset. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD. Clear and concise communicator with proven written and verbal skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities. Valid Class G driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites within the Greater Toronto Area. Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Work Conditions



Field-based role, working on both surface sites and underground environments. Exposure to heat, humidity, dust, noise, and heavy equipment. Moderate lifting and physical activity required. Flexible schedule with potential for extended hours, weekends, or shift work depending on project needs.
