The Role
As the Trust Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing and executing financial processes and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. You will be the hands-on leader, responsible for maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of the accounting functions. This is an in-office position at the head office in midtown Toronto. You will report directly to the company's Director of Finance.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership, training, and support to the in-office accounting team.
Ensure the team follows timely and accurate processes.
Serve as the in-office team lead.
Oversee and execute payments, including wires, EFTs, and direct deposits.
Manage payouts and bill payments efficiently.
Develop and streamline processes and activities to enhance efficiency and reduce missed or late payments.
Complete and update process documentation.
Process and prepare bill payments, inter transfers, and ACH payments.
Organize and retain documentation for quick reference and audit support.
Provide timely and professional follow-up with internal clients and vendors.
Address queries regarding late or missing payments.
Ensure inclusivity in content, member communication, and customer service.
Ensure compliance with new vendor internal controls.
Oversee banking/payment information.
Ensure accurate data entry of invoice information.
Ensure invoices are appropriately approved, coded, and compliant with expenditure policies.
Apply understanding and experience with real estate transactions to manage related financial processes.
Audit the team's work to ensure adherence to pre-defined processes.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Post-secondary education in finance or accounting.
Experience and understanding of real estate and/or mortgage transactions.
Experience using a variety of software, such as QuickBooks Desktop, PCLaw, Soluno, and Salesforce.
Proven experience managing a team, ideally a funding or accounting team.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Ability to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
Proficient in handling bank transactions and managing records.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Resilience and a proactive attitude, especially during high-stress periods like month-end.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
