Position Overview



lpt Realty Canada is seeking an experienced Trust Accountant to join our finance team in a critical role supporting our Real Estate operations across multiple Canadian provinces. This remote position reports directly to the Global Controller and requires a detail-oriented professional with specialized expertise in real estate trust accounting and multi-provincial regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and reconciling trust accounts across 4 or more provinces, ensuring compliance with varying provincial regulations, and supporting trust audits while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in handling client funds.

Key Responsibilities



Reconcile trust accounts for 4 or more Canadian provinces, ensuring accuracy and compliance with provincial regulations

Monitor trust account transactions and maintain detailed records of all trust account balances and activity

Process receipts, owner disbursements, creditor disbursements, and sales disbursements

Prepare comprehensive End of Month (EOM) reports and reconciliations

Ensure all trust fund transactions comply with provincial real estate regulations and requirements

Manage and support trust audits, working closely with external auditors and regulatory bodies

Reconcile all other bank accounts as required

Maintain current knowledge of trust accounting regulations across multiple provinces

Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering requirements and client identification protocols

Prepare necessary documentation for regulatory reporting and audits

Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual trust account reports

Assist with budget preparation and forecasting related to trust operations

Support the Global Controller with financial analysis and reporting

Maintain accurate and up-to-date trust accounting records using specialized software

Navigate varying provincial trust accounting requirements and regulations

Ensure seamless compliance across multiple provincial jurisdictions

Stay current with regulatory changes and updates across provinces

Coordinate with provincial real estate regulatory bodies as needed

Required Qualifications



Minimum 5 years of accounting experience

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working with trust accounts

Demonstrated experience working with trust accounts across various Canadian provinces

Experience managing trust audits and regulatory compliance

Proficiency with trust accounting software and financial reporting tools, including ERP system experience

Understanding of provincial variations in trust accounting regulations

Preferred Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Relevant professional certifications or designations (CPA preferred and CA a plus)

Real estate experience with multi-province operations

Experience with remote work environments and virtual team collaboration

Familiarity with real estate transaction processes and documentation
