Truck / Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Description
Fred M. Dunphy Excavating & Construction Ltd., a company with over 50 years of experience providing construction services throughout the HRM, is currently seeking a reliable and skilled mechanic to join our team.
We maintain a fleet of equipment, including tractors, tandems, excavators, loaders as well as other construction equipment. As a Mechanic with our company, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe operation of our trucks and equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Performing preventative maintenance on dump trucks, heavy equipment, and other vehicles.
Diagnosing, repairing, and replacing worn or broken parts.
Undertaking heavy lifting and other physically demanding tasks as needed.
The qualifications we are looking for in a candidate include:
Previous experience working as a mechanic.
Welding experience is considered an asset.
A valid driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
Proficiency in the safe and effective use of both hand tools and power tools.
Please note a Red Seal certification is not mandatory.
We value a strong mechanical aptitude and prior experience. Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 - 55 per week
