In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority( Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reports to the Manager, Accounts Payable. Performs general accounting and financial control duties such a receiving employee travel, education, membership, relocation, and other reimbursement expense claims; reviews these employee claims for compliance with various internal policies, collective agreements, and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines; and processes payments by operation of a personal computer and related software such as spreadsheets and databases. Also reviews the travel portion of vendor invoices for policy compliance prior to Accounts Payable processing the payments. Responds to inquiries related to travel and expense reimbursement policies, and related collective agreement interpretation and CRA guidelines; resolves problems as required; reports unresolved issues to the appropriate person. Performs general clerical functions such as maintaining related files, photocopying documents, and preparing correspondence, memos, and reports by utilizing a personal computer and related word processing and spreadsheet software.
