Role Description:

Arcadis is growing! Arcadis Canada is seeking an Transportation Designer to join our Infrastructure-Transportation engineering team in Markham, Ontario. This role sits within the Global Mobility Business Area. The successful candidate should have previous intersection design experience as well as strong knowledge of construction methodology for both temporary and permanent design. The incumbent is also responsible for preparing reports, proposals and liaising with clients for successful results.

Role accountabilities:

  • Traffic Signal and/or Roadway Lighting design.
  • Prepare preliminary, and detailed drawings, including tender documentation, estimates and specifications.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and memorandums.
  • Taking part in business development activities, proposal preparation, organizing staff resources, establishing project budgets and schedules, etc.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders (i.e., utilities) and team members within an integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team.
  • Prepare design layouts, wiring schematics, photometric analysis of lighting systems.
  • Prepare and review wire sizing, voltage drop and conduit capacity calculations.
  • Provide field support site visits and contract administration during construction (including commissioning and site inspection).
  • Ensure t deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices.
  • Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information, and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Completed Bachelor\'s Degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Traffic/Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 of relevant experience in intersection/traffic signal design, preferably in a design-consulting or utility environment.
  • Must have or be eligible for the P. Eng. designation in Ontario.
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • Proficient with AGI 32 is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Ontario Traffic Manuals (OTM), Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices Canada (MUTCDC), and Technical Manuals published by the Transportation Association of Canada.
  • A valid driver\'s license and vehicle is required.
  • Experience with O.Reg 22/04 certification and liaising with utility authorities.
  • Experience with pole loading software i.e. SPIDAcalc or equivalent is an asset.
  • Experience performing electrical site inspections, construction supervision and contract administration.
  • Experience working on MTO Minor and Major Electrical projects.
