Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of the Transportation Architecture Principal is for strategic vision, leadership, inspiration, quality assurance, and financial success of the Western Canada Transportation Architecture practice. We are seeking an experienced leader with focus on strategic growth and profitability of the practice to drive our annual plan. Candidates with relevant transport agency building design and project management experience with Aviation, Transit (all modes), Transit Oriented Development will be given serious consideration. The Transportation Architecture Principal must also have an established reputation evident through design awards, publications, education or other venues, and positive client references. Skills sets for this position include the ability to lead and build an architectural program as well as to support program development and projects across Ontario, including strategic planning, and business development efforts, while guiding initial design concepts and ideas from pursuit and selection through successful project completion on multiple project types, especially those with high degrees of complexity. This individual will increase the awareness and market presence of HDR\xe2\x80\x99s transport architectural practice while contributing to the reputation of the firm, and will support select initiatives in the United States and Canada.To achieve success, the Transportation Architecture Principal will work directly with the Transportation business group leadership, Market Sector Leaders, Cross-Sector Directors, and Business Class Directors to develop relationships with target clients and pursue new projects in the region. The pursuit of new work will be in a collaborative manner with local designers, technical leaders, and global experts as required. This individual will oversee and direct the activities of all personnel within the office including implementing annual plans, marketing strategies, public relations, project planning, financial planning and management, staff planning, professional development, and oversight and other related matters. This position will be responsible for establishing architectural office policies / procedures and adherence to corporate policies, project contract financial fee and budget information in conjunction with Marketing and Project Management, and establishment and/or maintenance of quality control processes and procedures. The Transportation Architecture Principal may be required to lead and manage teams on projects.In summary, this position seeks an architectural practice leader, who must have the vision and attitude to lead the Transport Architecture practice and lead collaboration with multiple HDR offices as well as outside subconsultant offices as needed, while effectively partnering with office and project management, and discipline leaders on all efforts. Must be active in local, national or international professional design related organizations related to Transportation and Architecture.QualificationsRequired Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture
  • A minimum of 15 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Transportation and Architecture.
  • Maintains a professional license with the AIBC
  • Knowledge of current trends and experience with large, complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills.
  • Experience with CAD platforms, BIM and visualization tools.
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule).
  • Proven track record of supporting practice growth, including winning project pursuits.
  • Sustainable Design experience and LEED Credentials preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and career development skills.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates with Translink, MOTI project/client experience.
