The Transload Operator plays a vital role in safely and efficiently loading and unloading products. This is a physically demanding position, with approximately 90% of duties performed outdoors in the site yard and 10% indoors in the office. Operators must have a strong understanding of the risks associated with each product handled and the necessary precautions to perform tasks safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
The Primary duties of a Transload Operator include, but are not limited to:
Abide by all company HSE policies and procedures and always encourage safety on site.
Demonstrates professionalism through courteous and respectful interactions with colleagues and external partners
Inspecting railcars prior to and flowing loading/unloading.
Unloading railcars with the HCL using the Transloader provided.
Unloading railcars containing methanol directly from the BOV with the fittings and hoses provided.
Scaling trucks in and out using Cardinal scale.
Completing pre/post railcar loading/unloading forms and applicable paperwork/tickets for reach railcar.
Ensure equipment is well maintained, cleaned and improvements are discussed with management in advance.
Ensuring a safe and clean site is always maintained.
Proper storage of tools, equipment, and meters.
Keep the necessary office supplies and tools stocked to maintain smooth operation of site and maintain and inventory check list to track and manage supplies.
General maintenance to site and equipment and in certain cases, railcars.
Working as a team with the Operations personnel.
Report deficiencies to management immediately when they arise.
Additional duties that provide efficient and effective operation of the site.
Qualifications
Mechanical Aptitude: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and site infrastructure.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
Physical Requirements: Capable of sitting, standing, walking for extended periods, and performing physical tasks such as crawling, reaching, shoveling, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
Team-Oriented: Works collaboratively and contributes to a positive team environment.
Work Ethic: Demonstrates focus, reliability, and a strong commitment to quality work.
Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for accuracy.
Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills, including limited experience with Microsoft Office programs.
Policy Compliance: Read, understand, and follow all company safety and operational policies and procedures.
Experience & Training: Previous training and experience is required.
Certifications: Must possess or be willing to obtain the following certifications:
o H2S Alive
o First Aid
o Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
