Choices Shelter and Support Services is launching a new Transitional Housing Program and is seeking Transitional Support Workers to provide day-to-day, on-site support to program participants.

About the Role

The Transitional Support Worker supports

safety, well-being, daily living, meal planning, and housing readiness

within a small, structured transitional housing environment. This role focuses on practical, relationship-based support and works closely with Housing Support Workers, who manage housing placement and system navigation.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured living environment Provide direct support with daily living skills, routines, and life stability goals Support meal planning, food preparation, and shared household responsibilities Reinforce housing readiness skills, tenancy expectations, and respectful shared living Monitor behaviour and respond using trauma-informed de-escalation practices Complete basic documentation and participate in team collaboration

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Social Services, Community Services, or related field (or equivalent experience) Experience working in shelters, transitional housing, or supportive housing settings Knowledge of trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and client-centred practices Strong communication, boundary-setting, and documentation skills

Additional Requirements

Vulnerable Sector Check First Aid / CPR (or willingness to obtain) Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays and/or rotating shifts
