Training Specialist I Curriculum Designer

Job Description


**This posting is for one (1) full-time temporary position ending on or before July 1, 2025**The Edmonton Police Service has an opportunity for one (1) Curriculum Designer in our Member Experience Unit to assume the following responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing classroom, eLearning and blended learning courses. Courses developed must employ instructional techniques and evaluation methods that are grounded in the principles of adult education.
  • Conducting needs assessments, formulating project plans, researching course content, and designing instructional techniques and evaluation methods.
  • Collaborating with instructors, subject matter experts and other curriculum designers on the coordination, research and development of curriculum packages (course manuals detailing course overview information, lesson plans, course training standards and evaluation methods).
  • Maintaining partnerships with external agencies and training institutions in creating educational opportunities for Edmonton Police Service members.
  • Arranging for and conducting coaching and advisory sessions with subject matter experts to discuss expectations and standards in the development of Course Training Standards (CTS) and course material. Provide recommendations on the design and delivery methods of courses as a curriculum design specialist.
  • Designing and preparing instructional aids, such as training manuals, handouts, Rise eLearning Modules and PowerPoint presentations for courses.
  • Designing and preparing eLearning content as stand-alone modules or pre-course work for in person courses.
  • Other related duties.
Qualifications
  • University Graduate from a recognized program in education, such as a Bachelor of Education Degree.
  • Minimum of two (2) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working in the field of adult education and/or developing course curriculum.
  • Experience with development of Articulate Storyline Projects or comparable eLearning Software.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office are required.
  • Strong skills with Adobe Suite would be an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Strong communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to work independently and in collaboration with others and as part of a team.
  • Applicants may be tested.

  • As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:
40 hours a week, 8 hours per day, Monday -Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program.Salary Range:
21B, Grade 021: $37.001 - $46.508 (Hourly), $2,960.10 - $3,720.60 (Bi-Weekly), $77,258.09 - $97,108.70 (Annually).General:
