At the City of Edmonton, we\'re committed to driving innovation and leveraging data to enhance decision-making processes.As a Data Training Specialist, you\'ll be at the forefront of transforming how our teams engage with data and analytics tools. Your primary focus will be on crafting and delivering comprehensive training programs that empower employees at all levels to leverage our Corporate Integrated Data Solution and other analytics technologies effectively.What will you do?

  • Use standards processes and tools, including incorporating change management and methodology where appropriate, to make sure data and analytics knowledge is used and shared
  • Recommend appropriate methodology for providing data & analytics training
  • Manage training risks and issues
  • Ensure training programs support employees with varying levels of computer proficiency; including both experience and comfort using computers
  • Develop and maintain corporate data and analytics curriculum/programs, including training materials for standard CoE Data Analytics tools (e.g. Tableau, Google Looker Studio, Google BigQuery) that can be used in the classroom as well as for self-study
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts for related training material
  • Work with Corporate Learning to ensure materials are consistent with instructional design standards and adult learning principles (and alignment with learning strategy approach to \'mandatory\' learning)
  • Participate in analytics classroom courses as instructor and/or subject matter expert
  • Collect feedback and share reports to evaluate the scope and effectiveness of corporate data & analytics training program delivery
  • Participate in the creation of rules, expectations and publishing standards to be used for data products both internally and externally
  • Perform other related duties
Qualifications
  • University graduation from a recognized program in education, such as a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts, Adult Learning or Development certification, or related field such as business or technology
  • Equivalencies will be considered:
  • Related diploma and 5 years related experience
  • Related certificate and 7 years related experience
  • A minimum of 4 years of training experience leading, delivering and designing knowledge management programs
  • A minimum of 4 years experience working in the field of adult education, instructional design and/or developing course curriculum related to online learning
Assets:
  • A minimum of two (2) years of Project Management experience preferred
  • Preference for technology-related curriculum development
  • Preference for proven ability in producing Self Study eLearning and others
Skills required for success:
  • Specialized knowledge of several enterprise applications
  • Experience/knowledge of enterprise applications
  • Experience using Data Visualization software
  • High degree of technical proficiency in a variety of Google Workspace applications
  • Understanding of Google Cloud Platform technologies
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum mapping and instructional design strategies.
  • Knowledge of the Cloud ERP technology
  • Experience managing and working with external consultants
  • Proven planning and organization skills to manage curriculum development and training delivery
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation of groups with competing interests and priorities
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact well with a diverse group of executives, colleagues, staff and citizens
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills, including training material writing
  • Ability to convey technical training to both a technical and non-technical audience
  • Ability to facilitate training sessions with a variety of staff
  • Ability to analyze complex technical information
