Overview
Reporting to the Director Resident Services this role will aid in streamlining onboarding and training processes for Program Staff
We are currently recruiting for 1 Full-time, Permanent Training Coordinator. This is a new position within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Onboarding and Orientation:
Lead new employee orientations, ensuring that all staff members are trained on shelter policies, procedures, and client care protocols.
Schedule training shifts for new employees, ensuring that training checklists are completed as designed
Facilitate the integration of new hires into the agency culture, ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
Develop and maintain orientation, training and onboarding plans for Shelter staff, regularly reviewing materials to ensure that they are current and aligned with appropriate CHT and TSS policies, directives and guidelines.
Training Program Development:
Ensure training materials, manuals, and curricula align with organizational goals and are compliant with Toronto Shelter Standards
Ensure all legislatively mandated trainings are scheduled and completed within the outlined time frames
Ensure required trainings are scheduled and completed within training profile guidelines
Identify and communicate with program Leadership and People & Culture any training gaps
Ongoing Education and Skill Development:
Organize regular in-service training sessions to provide continued education on evolving best practices as outlined by the priorities set by program leadership
Identify and address skill gaps within the staff, collaborate with Manager/ Director to source targeted training opportunities.
Stay current on relevant industry trends, legal requirements, and emerging issues impacting homelessness.
Training Evaluation and Feedback:
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through surveys, assessments.
Use feedback from staff to continuously improve training scheduling and balance.
Track staff progress and maintain accurate training records,
Provide monthly updates by program to leadership.
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with the program directors and department leads to ensure training is aligned with the shelter's mission and the needs of the young people.
Work closely with each program to ensure effective communication and coverage of program when training is scheduled.
Work closely with in house training facilitators to ensure that scheduling and coverage is organized.
Maintain a training calendar to prevent overlap and training fatigue.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure all training programs meet regulatory and licensing requirements as they relate to our sector.
Community Outreach and Partnerships:
Develop relationships with external training providers, community organizations, and subject matter experts to enhance the training program.
Coordinate external training sessions or workshops when necessary to meet staff development needs.
Qualifications:
College or university degree or diploma in child and youth work or equivalent.
3 years leadership experience, or 1 year in a training leadership position
Experience in Non Profit and Leadership experience - supervisor, coordinator minimum
Experience in a shelter or residential setting.
Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to the youth in our care.
First Aid, CPR and basic computer skills an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of community resources.
