Job Description

Location: Calgary
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (for the first 30 days) 8am - 5pm thereafter (45-minute lunch; some flexibility required)

Compensation:

Trainee Pay Band: $18-$24/hour

Graduated Instructor Pay Band: $25/hour

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and highly coachable Training Administrator & Instructor Trainee to join our team. This hybrid role combines administrative excellence, technical competence, and people skills. You'll be responsible for supporting training operations, ensuring our facility runs smoothly, and progressing toward certification as a safety instructor within 60-90 days.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative & IT Support

Operate and maintain our Learning Management System (LMS)

Process student data, print and laminate certificates, and ensure daily paperwork accuracy

Scan, upload, and organize documents promptly

Perform basic IT troubleshooting for classroom computers

Training Support & Instruction

Proctor MCC courses: guide students, monitor progress, and maintain classroom professionalism

Complete a structured instructor training program, learning theory and practical testing for multiple courses

Demonstrate continuous progress toward certification within assigned training timelines

Facility & Operations

Maintain cleanliness and organization in classrooms, offices, bathrooms, kitchen, warehouse, and retail areas

Support facility maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, fixture setup, and equipment inspections

Conduct safety checks (first aid kits, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, etc.)

Sales & Retail

Assist customers and students at The Safety Counter

Support product and course upselling opportunities

Maintain accurate inventory and process transactions

Other Duties

Perform qualitative mask fit testing (training provided)

Manage inventory for certificates, score sheets, and supplies

Contribute to a positive, safety-first, guest-focused workplace culture

What We're Looking For

Required Skills & Attributes

Strong administrative and organizational skills

Computer literate (LMS experience a plus)

Confident communicator with excellent public speaking and instructional presence

Reliable time management and ability to adapt to changing priorities

Sound judgment and independent problem-solving skills

Friendly, patient, and able to connect with diverse individuals

Extremely coachable and able to follow direction

Bonus Skills (Not Required but an Asset)

Sales experience and customer engagement skills

Experience in safety training or related fields (Fall Protection, MEWPs, Lift Truck, etc.)

Familiarity with PPE products and OHS standards

Multi-language fluency

Handy with tools and basic facility upkeep

CSA-approved steel toe footwear
