Position Overview:

The Traffic Control & Scale House Operator at YORK1 is responsible for managing traffic flow, overseeing scale house operations, and ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of the facility. This role involves directing incoming traffic, accurately weighing and tracking loads, maintaining site safety, and providing excellent customer service. The incumbent works closely with the operations team to ensure efficiency, compliance, and a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct and manage traffic flow within the facility to ensure safe entry, exit, and unloading Identify, classify, and accurately weigh all incoming and outgoing materials Ensure non-metallic or prohibited materials are properly redirected Coordinate with haulers, customers, and site staff to minimize congestion and prevent accidents Ensure compliance with site safety protocols and appropriate use of PPE Maintain awareness of health and safety regulations and contribute to a safe work environment Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and environmentally compliant site Participate in site inspections, audits, and incident investigations as needed Process invoices, payments, and maintain administrative records for smooth facility operation Provide clear instructions and professional service to customers and truck drivers

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Traffic control training and/or experience managing vehicle movements on industrial sites is an asset Experience in scale house operations or similar administrative roles Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Excel and other office applications Knowledge of Ontario's ESA and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Grade 12 or High School Diploma Valid G-class driver's license Strong attention to detail and accuracy in weighing, recording, invoicing, and payment reconciliation Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness and ability to travel between sites as required

Working Conditions:

Outdoor work in various weather conditions Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs Shift work may be required, including weekends and holidays Exposure to dust, odors, and heavy machinery noise
