Position Overview
In this position, you will be responsible for completing E, I & C maintenance activities. This position is part of the International Longshore & Warehouse Union, Local 523B. ILWU Local 523 is located and represented within the Prince Rupert community and requires the successful candidate to reside in the Prince Rupert, BC community.
Tasks and ResponsibilitiesComplete and document preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance at RIPET
Assist with coordinating, planning, and scheduling as required
Assist with managing a critical parts inventory to minimize downtime of facility equipment
Troubleshoot, test, maintain, and repair:
+ Plant power distribution systems
+ Transformers, rectifiers, switchgear, motor control centers
+ Motors, VFDs, UPS systems, load banks, generators, lighting
+ Logic control components/devices
Install instrument tubing and maintain instrument systems, including primary field devices, valves, actuators, meters, and analyzers
Work with automation specialists to troubleshoot and repair control systems
Construct and maintain gas analyzer sampling systems and instrument tubing assemblies
Complete calibrations on a variety of flow meter technologies, including Ultrasonic, restriction orifice, and Coriolis meters
Work with advanced Rosemount process devices, including Pressure, Level, and Temperature, and HART and Modbus communication protocols
Maintain a clean and organized workspace/shop
Assist other trades as assigned (e.g., mechanical and warehousing)
Qualifications, Skills, and AbilitiesJourneyman Electrical Certification is required
Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience required (industrial maintenance preferred)
Preference will be given to dual ticketed I/E certification applicants
A valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record are required
CSA Z462 Electrical Safety Training is an asset
Experience working on voltage ranging from 120V to 4160V
This is a safety-sensitive position and, as such, requires the successful candidate to complete post-offer drug, alcohol, and fit-for-work testing.

AltaGas' Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal (RIPET) is Canada's first propane export facility, located near Prince Rupert, BC. Strategically positioned with access to CN's rail network and North America's deepest harbor, RIPET offers Canadian producers direct access to Asian markets, cutting shipping times by up to 15 days compared to the U.S. Gulf Coast.
RIPET handles up to 92,000 barrels of propane per day under long-term export licenses, with a storage capacity of 600,000 barrels. The facility offloads over 100 rail cars daily and loads approximately 48 Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs) annually. Propane is cooled and stored at atmospheric pressure for efficient marine export.
AltaGas continues to expand RIPET's throughput and global reach, supporting Canada's energy sector with reliable access to premium international markets.
