The Licensed Tradesperson maintains, diagnoses, tests, and repairs the material handling equipment (MHE) (e.g., conveyors, gear boxes rollers, drive unit, hydraulic and pneumatics systems, etc.) to ensure equipment is operating with minimal downtime in compliance with health and safety standards.
Responsibilities
--------------------
Performing planned and unplanned mechanical and electrical duties on material handling equipment.
Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
Performing installations of new equipment and / or modifying existing equipment.
Performing diagnostic tasks related to automation, control wiring and AC/DC drives and systems
Ensuring equipment and facilities meet applicable codes
Requires up t0 25% of travel for business needs in Prairies
Assemble and install machinery and equipment such as shafting, precision bearings, gear boxes, motors, mechanical clutches, conveyors, and tram rails, using hoists, pulleys, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
Over time as needed and on call.
Other duties assigned.
Education

Completion of Specialized Courses Normally Taught in Community or Recognized Specialty Colleges Consisting of About Three Academic Years
For electrician roles, a Licensed Industrial Electrician Certificate (442A) is required
For millwright roles, a Licensed Industrial Millwright Certificate (433A) is required
Qualifications:
Licensed Electrician
Able to read and understand electrical drawings
Good knowledge of control circuits
Experience with going online with PLC (AB, Siemens) to assess an operational issue.
Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
Working knowledge and ability to weld in an industrial environment. (ARC & MIG welding) recognized trade certification preferred (ITABC Level A or B equivalent).
Previous experience with belt conveyors
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must successfully complete practical examination by company
Must be able to use word, excel, outlook express.
Must possess personal tools as identified by company
