Position - Trader FCC

Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC) is the leading independent clearing broker and custodian in the Canadian market. We provide trade execution, clearing, custody and back-office support services to Canadian-based brokerage firms and the Canadian brokerage arms of U.S.-based firms.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the VP Trading, the Trader is primarily responsible for trading Foreign Exchange and Digital Assets while contributing to trading the full breadth of product accessible to FCC: North American Equities, International Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivatives while seeking best execution for all orders. They will provide training on trading systems to existing and prospective clients and manage the onboarding of new clients to the FCC Trading platform. They will also assist with trading issues, provide market knowledge, and manage risk. Working with trading vendors to add efficacy, they will manage the implementation of trading tools and assist internal/external parties to meet regulatory needs.

The Value You Deliver

  • Facilitate execution activity in Foreign Exchange and Digital Assets while ensuring a high level of service to all clients.
  • Fully onboard clients and FX Counterparties to the platform and ensure documentation is complete
  • Contribute to the financial and operational efficiency of the Trading and Treasury teams
  • Demonstrate a high-level knowledge of regulatory requirements and conduct business in an operationally efficient and low risk manner
  • Seek liquidity and best execution of order flow in all asset classes while taking real time trading decisions to manage client orders and reduce risk.
  • Build, onboard and maintain relationships with trading clients and inform clients of applicable market activity, changes in market structure, regulatory issues or ad hoc requests.
  • Facilitate complex options orders for clients via OTC liquidity or multi-leg tools.
  • Engage and educate clients on fixed income trading and aid in finding suitable issues that meet client objectives while maintaining risk profile.
  • Provide support to Securities Finance team on ad hoc basis and borrow and locate securities for clients of the Securities Finance team by interacting with street counterparties.
  • Work with internal and external partners related to the implementation of new trading technology.
  • Properly utilize desk tools and resources to ensure operational efficiency. Minimize risk of loss during application outages, market dislocations and supervising client trading in the marketplace to ensure adherence to IIROC rules and regulations.
  • Confirm all trades are booked accurately on a daily basis and trade allocations are received from clients to be processed preventing the risk of loss and client impact, resolving trade booking issues for clients and ensuring settlement of trades occurs.
What We're Looking For
  • Completion of a University degree
  • 5 + years of experience in a trading or related role within the trading environment
  • Experience trading equities, fixed income, equity derivatives or FX
  • Completion of the following are required:
  • CSC (Canadian Securities Course)
  • CPH (Conduct Practices Handbook)
  • TTC (Trader Training Course)
  • DFOL (Derivatives Fundamentals and Options Licensing)
  • Completion of CFA and/or Futures licensing is an asset
  • Experience at an introducing broker and/or carrying broker is an asset

  • Agility to effectively deal with and adapt to change in a busy and demanding environment of frequent change.
Please note this role will require you to become registered with the securities regulators.

Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.
