Maintain master list of tariff classifications including supporting documentation for documentation for classification.
Contact secondary suppliers to determine the trade status of purchased products.
Supply required paperwork to end-user customers when required.
Liaise with Brokers and Supply Chain to ensure the smooth movement of goods across borders.
Manage all inquiries and audit requests with CBSA and US CBP
Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding classification, duty rates, documentation requirements or other import-related matters.
Ensure data integrity with all electronic filings with brokers and government agencies for shipment activity.
Be a champion for upcoming and significant changes in cross-border shipment reporting to ensure we maintain our favored trading status.
Continuously monitor evolving rules and guidelines with government agencies, assessing the impact on all IKO companies and ensuring we are proactively responding to changes to remain compliant.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 5 years of Customs and Trade operations experience, preferable in manufacturing
Strong understanding of the requirements to maintain compliance with all regulatory policies for cross-border shipments.
Strong technical knowledge of Trade Agreements (USMCA etc.) and international customs legislation, compliance, and security practices
Proficient working in an advanced ERP environment (preferably JDE experience) along with advanced MSOffice functionality
Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) is an asset.
Established hands-on experience in dealing with Canada and US custom authorities.
Detail-focused and commitment to meet challenging deadlines and remain current on all regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with both external and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance.
