Trade Compliance Coordinator

Job Description

Foremost Universal has an opening for a Trade Compliance Coordinator, located at our facility in Calgary, Alberta. This role supports the Trade Compliance & Logistics Lead in executing Foremost's trade compliance program. This role performs day-to-day classification, documentation, and broker coordination; maintains records and controls; and helps embed compliance into shipping and transportation activities to protect Foremost while enabling reliable, on-time operations.


Key Responsibilities




Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Suppliers, and Brokers to ensure accurate HS classifications, country-of-origin determinations, and support for customs valuation reviews. Maintain master data (part files, HS tables, country of origin, tariff treatment). Track export license/permit requirements and ensure required approvals are in place before shipment. Coordinate with customs brokers, service providers, and forwarders with respect to entries, clearance, and flags to prevent holds and compliance delays. Handle associated queries, resolve issues, and submit post-entry amendments when required. Reconcile broker invoices for FME Part Sales with corresponding customs entries and proforma invoices, identifying and resolving discrepancies. Understand clearance priorities and escalate any issues or delays to the team lead as appropriate. Support broker qualification files. Compile data for compliance KPIs; support internal reviews and audit readiness. Assist with the validation of Incoterms, partner data, and special program claims when required.



Qualifications




2-5 years' demonstrated experience in trade compliance, global customs clearance procedures, trade agreements such as CUSMA/USMCA, and international logistics. Working knowledge of HS classification, origin/valuation concepts, import/export documentation, and sanctions/export-control basics. Experience coordinating with brokers/customs/regulatory government agencies is an asset. Proficient with Excel/Sheets; BI reporting tools and ERP experience preferred. Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
