Toxicologist / Risk Assessor

division to work out of our

Kitchener, London, Toronto, or Burlington

office.

Responsibilities:



Complete all aspects of a human health and ecological risk assessment (problem formulation, exposure assessment, hazard assessment and risk characterization); Provide project support and mentorship to junior staff, including new hires; Support and help develop new and innovative ideas to advance risk assessment capabilities; Assist with proposal preparation and project management responsibilities for toxicology and risk assessment projects; Conduct and oversee chemical fate and transport modeling; Prepare reports and assessments as well as the review, evaluation and interpretation of published toxicology and related environmental assessment data; Conduct and design literature searches; Collect, collate, and summarize analytical data; Complete quality assurance checks of technical material; Develop and maintain contacts with clients and regulators; Other related duties, as assigned.

Requirements:



Bachelor's degree in human or ecological toxicology or a related field, such as biology, biochemistry, or environmental science; 3-5 years of work experience in risk assessments related to contaminated sites in Ontario or standards setting is considered a strong asset; Background in Human Health Risk Assessment, Environmental Toxicology, and an understanding of Ontario Regulation 153/04 and Canadian environmental policies/guidelines/regulations pertaining to contaminated sites; Excellent data research skills with both conventional and electronic literature combined with strong analytical, statistical and data management skills are required; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for the development of detailed technical spreadsheets; Attention to detail; Works well independently, as well as in a team environment; and, Strong organizational and time management skills.
