EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Tourism Development Coordinator
Part Time - 16 hours/week (Monday to Friday and occasional evenings and weekends)



The Township of Uxbridge is seeking to fill the position of Tourism Development Coordinator.
The Tourism Development Coordinator (TDC) will lead the organization collaboratively with the
Tourism Advisory Committee and the Township of Uxbridge. THE TDC will interact with
stakeholders to facilitate the development and implementation of innovative strategies and
resources that promotes the Township of Uxbridge as a four-season tourism destination and
supports new business growth and development.
The TDC will be fiscally responsible facilitating marketing and communications initiatives,
creating new tourism product offerings, implementing the Three-Year Tourism Strategic plan,
fostering government and stakeholder alliances, securing sponsorships and partnerships, and
encouraging new business growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to Tourism Advisory Committee and plan, organize, direct, and evaluate our

Tourism strengths and opportunities;
  • Distribute consumer surveys with our Tourism business partners;
  • Develop strategic annual plans and revenue opportunities to enhance tourism;
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers;
  • Foster effective relationships with industry stakeholders;
  • Oversee communication functions including website and social media platforms;
  • Actively communicate and align efforts with Durham Region Tourism, Central Counties

Tourism and the Ontario Tourism.
  • Recommend marketing, advertising, and public relations activities including coordination,

production, and distribution of marketing material, campaigns and social media;
  • Establish marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives; Identify research needs;

Oversee web development and social media;
  • Support Experience Development, partnership initiatives and key industry engagement;
  • Work with all local tourism stakeholders to develop tracking methods that are easily utilized to

ensure accurate tracking for reporting purposes.
  • In consultation with tourism partners, develop an awareness strategy that promotes tourism
in the Township of Uxbridge. Develop strong compelling messages and brand consistency for
easy identification by consumers and the industry.
  • Ensure Operations/Financial accounting practices are followed and monitor performance
against budget;
  • Source additional funding and in kind resources to support program delivery from other
agencies including Central Counties, Durham Tourism, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Diploma or degree in Tourism Management, Business Administration, Marketing or the
equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of tourism principles obtained through 2 years of Tourism, sales
and/or marketing experience
  • Extensive knowledge of local, regional, national and international tourism trends, as
well as an ability to apply solid financial principles to attain organizational budgetary
goals.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills.
  • Exemplary public speaking skills.
  • Dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed planning and organizational skills.
  • Highly developed time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (word, excel, Microsoft Outlook).
  • Excellent social media knowledge and skills.
Remuneration for this role is $27.00 \xe2\x80\x93 $31.00 per hour.
