Interpretive Guide, Jurassic Forest The Jurassic Forest and Learning Centre is an outdoor active learning park located just minutes north of Edmonton,
Alberta. Opened in July 2010 Jurassic Forest is North America\xe2\x80\x99s largest animatronic dinosaur park, with two Discovery
Trails set amid 40 acres of old growth forest. Jurassic Forest offers a variety of educational programs and special events seasonally from May to October, inviting guests to learn about and interact with Alberta\xe2\x80\x99s plants and animals of the past and present. Interpretive Guides are the ambassadors of Jurassic Forest, inspiring a love of natural history through interacting with the public as well as school groups, day camps, and birthday parties. In the active learning park guests come face to face with realistic dinosaurs and other extinct fauna while exploring the natural wonders of modern Alberta. As a member of the Jurassic Forest Interpretive team, it is up to you to capture the imagination of guests of all ages and lead them on an unforgettable prehistoric journey! Interpretive Guide Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct educational tours and programs for school groups, private parties, and the public.
  • Explore the Discovery Trails with guests, share knowledge and answer questions in an engaging manner.
  • Facilitate special events, crafts, and educational activities.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build rapport with guests.
  • Perform guest services and operate tills at the admissions desk, gift shop, concession, and mini golf course.
  • Maintain the good condition and cleanliness of the trails, playground, and facilities including daily cleaning duties and upkeep of restrooms and picnic areas.
  • Follow appropriate health procedures to prepare and serve food in the park\xe2\x80\x99s concession.
Interpretive Guide Job Requirements:
  • Family-friendly attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Alberta high school diploma or equivalent \xe2\x80\x93 some post-secondary is preferred.
  • A background in Biology, Earth Sciences, or Education is an asset.
  • Proactive, responsible, and able to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality of service.
Position Details:
  • Seasonal position running from late April to early September (with opportunities to stay until October.)
  • Mandatory paid training sessions will take place on weekends in April.
  • Part-time and full-time positions available.
  • Access to reliable transportation is necessary due to the facility being located outside of city limits.
  • Wage $16.00-$17.50/hour, depending on education and experience.
