Downtown Tire, Brake & Muffler is a small yet busy shop in the heart of Kamloops, offering various services from tires to preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on passenger cars, SUVs, light trucks and hot rods. Position Overview:
Working as part of the shop team, the Tire & Lube Service Technician is responsible for executing any/all tire and oil related services as well as any other shop duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Tire Services
New and seasonal tire changeovers, including mount, dismount, computer spin-balance, installation & rotation.
Tire repair, including making recommendations for replacement if deemed unrepairable.
Tire and wheel assessment, such as condition and safety concerns.
Courtesy inspection of the main vehicle components.
TPMS service.
Wheel torque/re-torque.
Lube Services
Oil changes - perform oil and filter changes.
Lube chassis grease fittings and friction points as required.
Courtesy brake and front-end inspections.
Fluid level check & top up.
Wiper blades and battery check.
Courtesy engine bay wash and vehicle wash (weather-permitting).
Shop Related
Work area, shop bench and toolboxes must be organized, neat and tidy.
Shop cleanliness to be maintained throughout the day.
Shop tools and equipment must be kept clean and maintained to retain good condition and ensure long-term operation.
Proper disposal as it pertains to hazardous materials, recyclables and metal.
Customer Service
Greet customers in the parking lot and direct them to service advisors or management as required.
Assist with answering the phones if the service advisors are tied up.
Keep customer vehicles clean & free from any damages.
Offer parking lot assistance when limited parking / room is available.
General
Full-time position, 8 hours a day with a hour unpaid lunch break and potential for OT.
CSA-approved steel-toe boots a must.
Must follow OHS regulations.
Skills/Qualifications:
Able to take direction and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Able to multi-task and prioritize jobs.
Able to work as a team as well as independently.
Must be physically fit & capable of lifting and moving items up to +50 lbs.
Experience/knowledge in the automotive trade a bonus but willing to train the right candidate.
