*Remote Work is Possible*The THRiVE Discovery Lab (www.thrivedisovery.ca) Co-Directed by Dr. Meghan Azad and Natalie Rodriguez is situated at the University of Manitoba and Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM). Dr. Azad and Ms. Rodriguez co-Direct the Manitoba Interdisciplinary Lactation Centre (MILC) and Dr. Azad is Deputy Director of the national CHILD Cohort Study. Our team studies how early-life exposures and experiences shape lifelong health, focusing on infant feeding practices, human milk composition and the infant microbiome. We apply this research in various contexts and geographic settings to understand the development and prevention of asthma, allergies, obesity, malnutrition and growth stunting. Our team is transdisciplinary, combining expertise in molecular biology, epidemiology, statistics, bioinformatics, nutrition, health equity and maternal-child health.We are seeking a full-time Research Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will have a PhD in one of the following areas: epidemiology, biostatistics, microbiome, nutrition, immunology, pediatrics; they will develop and lead projects, collaborate with internal and external partners, analyze and interpret data, disseminate scientific findings to stakeholders and collaborators, and help mentor junior lab members. An equivalent of education and substantial research experience will be considered.   • PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. : epidemiology, biostatistics, microbiome, nutrition, immunology, pediatrics or a related field)
  • Strong proficiency in R (and/or Python), including multi-omics data quality assessments, analysis and visualization
  • Strong data visualization skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks, effectively solve problems with numerous and complex variables, and shift priorities rapidly
  • Experience in developing and writing scholarship applications and research grants
  • Demonstrated success in working on complex, novel research problems
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented with critical thinking, meticulous organization and record keeping skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • Proficiency in REDCAP, SAS, Python, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Photoshop or other graphical software
  • Creating/managing budgets
  • Creating videos
  • Creating/managing websites, social media
  • Background in maternal-child health research
  • Familiarity with laboratory analysis of biological samples to generate 'omics data
  • Expertise in longitudinal data analysis
