Third Class Engineer Shift Engineer supervises the operation of the 4.6 MW Co-Gen Plant, boilers and other equipment in the Central Heating Plant (CHP). Supervises all registered equipment under the CHP such as refrigeration, compressors and other related equipment. When necessary, makes needed adjustments to controls settings and equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operation and dependable service.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
TSSA Third Class Engineers certificate
Has skills in maintenance and repair procedures, including; preventive maintenance, breakdown repair and trouble-shooting techniques, typical in tasks
Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job requirements
Ability to read and interpret drawings and manuals related to the job requirements
Ability to effectively work individually, and or as part of a team of diverse groups
Ability to follow through and carry out assignments
A creative approach to problem solving
Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
Knowledge of computers and their applications to refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
Ability to read and apply technical specifications and E&I diagrams and drawings
Knowledge of hazards involved with work and safety measures to be taken
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers
Aptitude for science and mathematics
Knowledge of FMP Policy and Procedures
Keep abreast of future developments in the field
Ability to read and write English
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
TSSA Third Class Engineers Certificate
Job requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the related field in facilities maintenance or related trade.
