Thin Film Optical Coating & Optical Assembly Technician BMV Optical Technologies Inc. - Ottawa, ON BMV Optical Technologies provides manufacturing services for precision optical components and optical systems. Products include lenses, laser windows, beamsplitters, prisms, machined glass components, as well as optical coatings. Industries served include Telecom, Military, Medical, Research and Development, and Industrial Applications. Currently seeking two individuals for full-time employment that are primarily responsible for the application and metrology of thin film optical coatings to a variety of precision optical components. The successful candidates will also be responsible for the preparation and verification of complete optical system assemblies to their optical specifications, as well as coating and CNC machine operation and maintenance. Complete training will be provided for this position. Responsibilities: Coating \xc2\xb7 Operate vacuum coating chamber to deposit high performance multi-layer thin film coatings on precision optical components \xc2\xb7 Cleaning and loading of optical components into custom fixtures in preparation for coating run \xc2\xb7 Use of spectrophotometer to verify optical specifications \xc2\xb7 Maintain chamber including disassembly, cleaning and reassembly \xc2\xb7 Perform quality inspection, tests, and some analysis \xc2\xb7 Monitor equipment for operating parameters and notify supervisor of any problems \xc2\xb7 Visually inspect all products received for conformance to specifications before and after coating \xc2\xb7 Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tools, and overall department Responsibilities: Assembly \xc2\xb7 Precision build of high-quality lens assemblies \xc2\xb7 Use adhesives to bond and precisely align lenses \xc2\xb7 Work with measuring devices, small hand tools, and components \xc2\xb7 Work with CNC Lens centering machines \xc2\xb7 Perform functional testing and inspection operations \xc2\xb7 Follow written and verbal assembly procedures \xc2\xb7 Work well under close supervision, independently, and in a team environment \xc2\xb7 Perform other duties assigned such as packaging and material handling Experience & Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 College technical diploma or higher in related field (Photonics engineering preferred) \xc2\xb7 Previous manufacturing environment experience an asset \xc2\xb7 Good mechanical aptitude problem solving and decision-making skills \xc2\xb7 Detail oriented with good communication and time management skills \xc2\xb7 Work in a safe manner and possess basic knowledge in health & safety regulations \xc2\xb7 Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment \xc2\xb7 Cooperate with management and coworkers \xc2\xb7 Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language \xc2\xb7 Willing to work overtime as required Benefits: Yes (After Probationary Period) Starting Salary: To be determined Opening: Immediate Job Type: Full-time (Monday to Friday) Required education: Technical diploma or higher in related field (Photonics engineering preferred) Required language: English Job Type: Full-time Salary: $15.50-$24.55 per hour Schedule:
