Recognized diploma in Therapy Assistant (OT and/or PT)
Technical Competencies
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Experience
One year experience preferably in a long term care setting.
Experience in assessing therapeutic needs, development, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic programs.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, the OT Assistant will oversee the therapy programs and OT Aides. The Assistant will maintain department statistics, records and document on resident charts as assigned. The Assistant will assist the therapist as directed with AADL orders, equipment trials, and resident treatments.

Occupational Health and Safety Accountabilities
Carry out all assigned duties in compliance with the applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Company policy
Follow safe work practices as directed by supervisor and as required by the applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation
Participate in all required occupational health and Safety training
Use appropriate equipment and wear personal protective equipment or clothing as required by Extendicare
Report any known or identified health and safety hazards or violations to their supervisor.
