Job Description

Your Opportunity:
The Neuro Rehabilitation programs, including the Early Supported Discharge team and the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation clinics, support a population ranging from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, or other neurological injury/disorder. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Therapy Assistant works within an inter-professional team to assess and provide treatment to achieve rehabilitation goals from their specific therapy area. This position provides direct and indirect client care activities under the direction of a licensed professional (e.g. Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, Recreation Therapist, Social Worker, Psychologist or Nurse). Assessment and intervention are provided in community settings, primarily in the patient's home, but at times also in other contextually and goal appropriate environments. As such, this position offers the opportunity to be very flexible, adaptive, and innovative in a client and family centred approach to rehabilitation. The position also includes non-client care activities to support team operations. The Early Supported Discharge Team is connected to many other stakeholders including allied health and nursing staff, coordinators, and physicians along the continuum of care. Resume must be attached to be considered for an interview.
Description:
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams.
