Your Opportunity:This is a unique opportunity if you have a passion for working with seniors and want to be part of the long-term care team at Canmore General to support their day-to-day activities. If you have limited training or experience, we are open to train the right person. This is a casual position with a set schedule (Monday - Thursday from 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm) Tuesday and Wednesday off. A good fit would be a happy, positive and outgoing person, who can be self-directed and is able to flex in the moment to the changing demands of the unit, residents, and team. Helping with oral care, mealtime set up, assistance, feeding, being a 1-1 support for agitated residents, and being able to distract and redirect with activities and engagement.Description:As a Therapy Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, or speech language pathologist, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs. You may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.
